In the past, dentists used gold or silver restorations to repair decayed teeth. While gold is still the #1 restorative material in terms of longevity, it is frowned upon because of it yellow color. With the technological and material advancements available to us today, we are able to provide restorations that are tooth colored. For very small restorations, we use a tooth colored composite material that is bonded to the tooth. For larger restorations, that require more strength, we are now able to remove the decay, and prepare the tooth for a partial coverage inlay/onlay, that only removes the damaged tooth structure, rather than the whole tooth down to the gum line.
For such restorations, we prepare the tooth, take an impression, make a temporary, select colors, and have the patient come back in three weeks for bonding of the inlay/onlay.
Fortunately, today we are able to offer tooth whitening, veneers, composite bonding, and all porcelain crowns that restore the natural beauty of the smile. Our office provides all the services to ensure that your smile will be the best it can be.
